Affiliate Links
Some pages on DIYorBuyLocal contain affiliate links. When a reader clicks one of these links and makes a purchase, the retailer pays DIYorBuyLocal a small commission. The commission costs the reader nothing extra, the price is identical whether you click our link or navigate to the retailer directly.

Advertising
DIYorBuyLocal may display advertising via Google AdSense or direct sponsorships. Sponsored content, when present, is clearly labeled "Sponsored" or "Advertisement" above the placement. Advertising relationships do not influence editorial content, cost data, or report methodology.
Featured Listings in the contractor directory are a paid placement product. Featured contractors pay for directory visibility only, never for adjustment of cost ranges, calculator outputs, or DIY report content.
Information We Collect
Calculator usage: Zip code and project type entered into the cost calculator. No account required. Anonymized usage data may be logged to improve cost models.
Report purchases: Email address and payment information (processed by Stripe, we do not store card numbers). Email is used to deliver the Blueprint and for transactional follow-up.
Contractor signups: Business name, contact email, phone, and service area. Used to create and manage your directory listing.
Analytics: Aggregate traffic data via Google Analytics (page views, session duration, referral source). No personally identifiable information is collected at the analytics layer.
Submitted quotes (future): Anonymized project cost data submitted voluntarily by homeowners. Attributed as "Submitted Quotes, city, state" on relevant pages. No name or contact information is stored with submitted quotes.
How We Use Your Information
- To deliver purchased Blueprints to your email address.
- To create and manage contractor directory listings.
- To improve cost model accuracy using anonymized calculator usage data.
- To understand aggregate site traffic and improve content.
- We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties.
- We do not use your information for advertising targeting.
